Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has assured to publish
complete information about its 46,563 tenants on its official website. All
lease details, including period of lease, payable rent, additional
charges, arrears, term & conditions of lease will be displayed on website,
RTI activist Anil Galgali was assured by the Estate department of the BMC.BMC
website displays Name of the lessee & the rent amount since 2014.
In an RTI application Galgali had asked details of yearly rent,
arrears & lease conditions. BMC Estate Department Administrative officer
and Public Information Commissioner of Estate department A.B. Kadam informed
Galgali that BMC earns Rs 18,26,32,000/- as yearly rent from its
properties in Mumbai. Till date BMC collected Rs. 11,22,12,677/- rent
during year 2015-2016 which was generated through SAP. BMC website displays
only Name of the lessee & the rent amount since 2014. The details of yearly
rent, arrears & lease conditions and other details will be published on the
BMC website within 3 months.
Anil Galgali has welcomed the disclosure of
Lease details on website and has suggested other Government department follow
Estate Department method to make all details on Website. Which is helpful to
common man to know each and every update, said Galgali.
