Rs 798.44 crores Return & Compensation amount paid to Contractors for 12 Toll Plazas closed & exemption on 53 plazas.

Due to the 12 Toll Plazas closed down and exemption on 53 plazas, the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) and the Public Work Development (PWD) Departments have to pay Rs. 798.44 crores as compensation & return to the Toll Plaza Contractors, revealed an RTI filed by activist Anil Galgali. Anil Galgalis for RTI filed with the Minister of PWD Chandrakant PAtil, asking for information on the Toll Plazas closed and about the exempted ones. Shailendra Borse, Under Secretary & Public Information Officer in the reply stated that out of the total 38 Plazas managed by the PWD 11 were closed and Rs. 226.51 crores was paid to the contractor as full & Final payment. Whereas out of the 53 plazas maintained by the MSRDC only 1 was closed for which the full & Final payment return amounted to Rs. 168 crores. Out of the 19 projects of the PWD in the 27 toll plazas the Car's, Jeep's, State Transport Buses (ST) and School buses were given exemption. But this amounted to return of Rs. 179.69 crores as compensation for Year 2015 -16. Similarly for MSRDC's 12 projects which consists of 26 Toll Plazas because of the exemption given to the Cars, Jeep, ST & school buses the compensation for Year 2015-16 amount to return of Rs. 224.24 crores. Out of 53 Toll Plaza's under the MSRDC only 1 has closed. Because of the closure of one Railway over Bridge (ROB) in Chandrapur, Rs. 168 crore were returned as full & Final payment to the Contractor. And in case of the PWD where 11 Toll Palzas were closed out of the 38, they were identified as Alibaugh-Pen-Khopoli, Vadgaon-Chakan-Shikrapuur near Maval 2 toll plazas (Pune), Mohole-Kurul-Kamati-Mandrup, then one at Tembhurni-Kurduwadi-Barshi Latur road at Solapur, Ahmednagar-Karmala Tembhurni Road, Nashik Vani Road, Yaaval-Bhuswal raod at Bhusawal and Khamgaon Ring Road.
