Dr Satyapal Singh does not want to pay penalty

Always claiming to be a stickler for rules BJP MP & Ex Mumbai Police Commissioner Dr Satyapal Singh is not ready to pay a penalty of Rs 48,420 has come to light through a information provided to RTI activist Anil Galgali by the Mumbai suburban collector. Dr Satyapal Singh had given his flat in the Patliputra cooperative hsg soc, which is situated on govt allotted land on rent without obtaining the mandatory NOC from the Collector. RTI activist Anil Galgali had sought information from the Mumbai suburban collector office for details of persons who had given flats on Leave & License basis with out obtaining NOC. Anil Galgali was told to inspect the files by the Collector office. After inspection of more than 10 files related to various cooperative societies including Patliputra, Saiprasad, Sangam. Some documents were provided to Anil Galgali. Dr Satyapal Singh, who has a flat situated on 10 th floor of Patliputra cooperative soc, has not paid a penalty of Rs 48,420/- till date. The Collector office has also issued a notice to Dr Satyapal Singh dt 28/01/2015. Dr Satyapal Singh had sent a cheque for Rs 5380/- on 28/01/2013. In reality Dr Satyapal Singh had put his flat on leave and licence for past 10 years breaking the rules and also earned Lakhs of rupees as rent during the period. It is also important to highlight here that, it was this flat in which an sex racket was operating and got exposed on 2 June 2014 by Mumbai Police. In a letter addressed to CM Devendra Fadnavis, Anil Galgali has raised the issue that, many bureaucrats have secured flats in societies on land allotted by state govt obtained by them stating the reason that it would be convenient for them to perform better if they have a flat in Mumbai. But these officers have rented out these flats and occupying govt staff flats as well. Galgali had demanded that, officers who own the flats in Mumbai and Thane should not be provided with government accommodation, which will enable the needy to get accommodation. There is a long list of officers like Dr Satyapal Singh, who have procured flats in societies on land allotted by state govt, like Chief Secretary Swadheen Kshatriya, Information Commissioner Ajit Kumar Jain, Himanshu Roy, Ex Municipal Commissioner Dr Jairaj Phatak, Bhagwaan Sahay, Meera Borwankar, Rajeev Gaikwad, and V N Deshmukh but they are following the rule book by obtaining NOC from the collectorate by paying the fees to government treasury.
