CM orders change in law,now subsidized land allotment will not be possible in Maharashtra

Looking after the controversy generated by the allotment of land to Hema Malini for her dance Academy, the govt has decided to end the law regarding the land allotment 's. Accepting the suggestion of RTI activist Anil Galgali, CM has decided to revoke the law which enabled allotment of land and subsidized rate for cultural and educational purposes. In Maharashtra, as per a law formulated in 1983/84 it was possible to allot land for educational and cultural purposes at 25% of rate prevalent in 1976. Confirming the development, CM Devendra Fadnavis stated that the rates of land in 1976 itself was very less and in that charging only 25% was too less. He has instructed the officers to prepare a new policy for land allotments. On being queried if the change in stance of the Govt will have a bearing on the land allotted to Hema Malini, he replied that a thought would be given on that too. An officer of the dept stated that, as per the new policy, hence forth the land allotments would be on a rate of land as per the govt estimate. RTI activist Anil Galgali, who exposed the subsidized land allotment of Hema Malini, welcomed the CM's decision. Anil Galgali, in a first had in a letter addressed to CM, had demanded a change in 1983/84. policy stating the due to the policy the govt is facing a loss of valuable revenue. In an assessment, Galgali further stated that such types of allotments in the past has caused an loss to exchequer by crores in last 35 years. RTI activist Anil Galgali while thanking CM Devendra Fadnavis, stated that, this step will boost the revenue of the Govt, which can be put to use for the development of the state.
